I love to grow things: children, bank accounts, my waistline (kidding) and plants. Growing things is a real adventure, including discovery, journey and perseverence. In my Relief Society I’ve been asked to lead an Enrichment Group dedicated to gardening. We met for the first time in January 2009 on a Wednesday evening. We had a good turn-out, got to know one another’s gardening experience and goals and planned for next meetings. This is a place you can visit to track our journey, perhaps joining us. I hope to report our adventures and post plans for upcoming meetings here which you can check in preparation and progress. Remember that I am a Las Vegas gardener and what we do here might be different than what you do in your neck of the woods.
Gardening is a wonderful way to strengthen your testimony as you see God’s hand in nature and His creations. The scriptures are full of metaphors where plants and gardening teach gospel principles, i.e. Matt. 13:38; Alma 32:28; Exodus 15:17; Moses 3:5; D&C 2:2. Consider the fundamental events in human history that took place in a garden: The Creation, The Atonement, The Resurrection, The Restoration.”
